Designing Journeys #7 – Loneliness

One in three seniors report feeling lonely

Research shows that chronic loneliness can impact an older adults memory, physical well-being, mental health, and life expectancy. During our time with thousands of older adult users, there often is a life event that causes one’s social circles to shrink, isolation takes its ugly hold, and loneliness sets in as a permanent state.  These events may be a move, death of a spouse of partner, and often an injury, such as knee or hip surgery, which brings changes to lifestyle.

How might we introduce voice-first experiences preemptively?

Voice Designer tip – Folks are living longer and healthier.  Design to meet older adults where they are while they are active with fun, function and freedom.  It’s about crafting micro-moments of connection.
